Contraindications

Here is a list of contraindications for PMU procedures, they include but are not limited to :



  • under the age of 18

  • recent surgery or laser treatment

  • diabetes

  • pregnant or breast feeding

  • glaucoma

  • skin disorders or diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, & undiagnosed rashes or blisters on the treatment site

  • history of keloid scarring

  • allergies to makeup

  • easily triggered post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

  • active shingles

  • hemophiliac

  • healing disorder

  • taking blood thinners

  • uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart conditions

  • epilepsy

  • autoimmune disorder

  • active cancers

  • sunburn

  • anemia

  • Accutane or steroids

  • transmittable blood conditions

  • organ transplant

  • botox within a month of procedure

  • viral infections or diseases

  • flu or cold

  • chemotherapy

  • if you have any other conditions or concerns please disclose them to your artist it may be a contraindication or something that can affect the outcome or longevity of the procedure

BEFORE THE SERVICE

Pre Care

It is crucial for you to follow all instructions provided by your artist. Please be sure to review the information below before you come in to your appointment. Following these instructions are important to achieve results.

  • do not work out 24 hours prior to procedure

  • NO alcohol or caffeine 48 hours prior to procedure

  • avoid sun & tanning one week prior to the procedure

  • do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 48 hours prior to procedure

  • avoid fish oil for 1 wk

  • avoid prenatal vitamins, vitamins & minerals, & nutritional shakes 48 hours prior to procedure

  • discontinue Retin-A, Chemical & Laser peels, microdermabrasion, AHAs for atleast 3 wks prior to procedure

  • Botox & filler should be avoided on the forehead, temple, & eye area 2 wks prior to the procedure

  • avoid ginger, cinnamon, garlic, & cayenne pepper for 48 hours prior

  • no brow waxing, tinting, tweezing, & threading 1 wk prior

  • you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle & have greater chance of bleeding if you smoke

Please plan all procedures 1-6 weeks prior to a special event or vacation. This allows adequate time for healing. Your desired brows cannot be achieved in just one session, it is a "2 step process" and is not uncommon to lose 30-80% of your color after the first treatment. Some clients need more than 2 sessions in order to achieve their desired density & shape. If excessive bleeding occurs, poor aftercare, makeup use during healing , or unforeseen variables occur extra appointments may be needed for desired outcome of procedure may not be effective.


Your first touch up is complementary ONLY when paying full price, discounted procedures do have a 1st touch up charge. Additional touch ups do have a charge as well.

AFTER THE SERVICE

Aftercare

  • for the 1st 24 hours, blot any lymph fluid from the treatment area with a tissue.

  • scabbing is normal, some may scab more than others for various reasons including excessive bleeding or body immune responses.

  • unless otherwise told by artist, GENTLY wash area with unscented antibacterial soap & water using finger tips. Blot dry with tissue. Once completely dry you may apply a RICE sized amount of ointment such as afterinked, PMU aftercare ointment, or aquaphor.

  • make sure brows are always completely dry before applying RICE sized amount of ointment

  • In the shower, avoid direct contact with water & avoid hot showers &/or baths.

  • no use of saunas or steam for 2 weeks

  • do not rub, pick, or scratch treatment area. packing can cause scarring & pigment loss !

  • let the scab or dry skin shed off naturally

  • no swimming for 2 wks

  • avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for 4 weeks. This can cause pigment to change color while healing & can also cause hyperpigmentation or scarring.

  • avoid sweating on your face for 10 days this can cause pigment to expel from the skin & cause poor pigment retention producing poor results

  • avoid sleeping on your face for 2 weeks

  • no makeup or skincare products for 2 weeks

  • keep bangs & hair pulled back from face

  • after 2 weeks, use spf if needed

  • do not tint brows for 2 wks post procedure

  • avoid professional/facials on or neat treatment area to prevent fading

  • MOST IMPORTANTLY always clean hands before touching your brows for any reason until healed
