HAIR REMOVAL

SUGARING . THE "ANCIENT METHOD"

We are one of few Estheticians who offer Sugaring Services in the Western Mass Area. This is an amazing ancient technique that dates back all the way to the Ancient Egyptians. It differs from waxing in many ways. Unlike waxing, it leads to permanent hair reduction by removing anagen hair from the follicle. It is less painful, so its perfect for those with sensitive skin or those who are sensitive to pain. Additional information can be found in our blog or contact us directly.

WAXING . THE "TRADITIONAL METHOD"

When we think of hair removal, We usually think of traditional waxing. This is a great method of hair removal. Two different types of waxes are used depending on the clients sensitivity and thickness of hair. There are Hard waxes and Creme waxes available for our clients. Contact us for additional information.

THE VAGACIAL

For those of you new to the concept, the vagacial is a spa treatment performed on the vulva of the vagina. Focusing on the bikini line and outer labia. It does not actually deal with the inter vagina. What is the purpose of a vajacial ? A vajacial treats ingrown hairs, removes dead skin cells, smooths bumps around bikini line, prevents acne, helps with hyperpigmentation, all to maintain healthy and hydrated skin in the vaginal area. A vagacial is typically a 40-50 minute treatment, which includes a cleanse, mild enzyme exfoliant, extractions of ingrown hairs, followed by a soothing mask, completed with a skin brightening serum or spot treatment, &/or high frequency treatment. Vagacials are usually follow up treatments to help deal with side effects of hair removal on the vagina. It is recommended to get a vagacial 7 days post shaving or receiving a wax. If sugaring, you can even receive one the same day. Vagacials can help with evening out skin tone around the bikini and get rid of bacteria and skin-brightening treatments to lessen discoloration and hyperpigmentation. Helps with vaginal skin care, preventing irritation from waxing/shaving. Along with maintaining upkeep and promoting cosmetic benefits of the vagina, the vagacial also promotes body positivity. Even though this is a procedure for an intimate, more sensitive area, everyone’s area is different. Yes, this is safe for sensitive skin. A patch test can be done beforehand to ensure you will achieve maximum results. Vagacials can open and create a non-sexual and comfortable relationship for women who tend to stray away from that region of the body. A vagacial is also known to be a great stress relieving process such as getting a regular monthly facial, massage or mani/pedi. The perfect treatment to add to a spa day for ultimate full body relaxation.

You can also look into our Peach Treatment Package which includes a Vagacial (peach treatment) & a Sugared Brazilian.

FAQ

DO WAXING TREATMENTS HURT?

Yes and no. Waxing does hurt most the first time. There are two reasons for this:

  • We are removing a lot of coarse hair during the first visit – especially if you’ve been shaving. With repeat visits (including your very next visit), discomfort from waxing is greatly diminished.

  • It is shocking to have all of your hair pulled out by the root. During return visits, there will be less hair to remove, thus less pain.

To sum it up, yes, your first waxing treatment will hurt and it will take the longest time to complete. In the future, for minimum discomfort and to ensure speedy visits, come in for waxing treatments every 4 weeks.

BEFORE YOUR WAXING TREATMENT

Please stop tweezing and/or shaving 2 to 2.5 weeks prior to your first treatment!

IS HOME CARE NECESSARY?

Yes. Home care is a must to ensure the best results. Start your home care the day after receiving your waxing treatment, even if irritation is present. Before that (i.e directly after your treatment and then for at least 12 hours) refrain from using the sauna, deodorant and from tanning. We encourage you to discontinue tweezing, shaving or using any other method of hair removal during your wax life.

HOW LONG WILL MY WAXING TREATMENT LAST?

Most people get waxed every 4 weeks with great success. Please keep in mind that It is important to have 3 weeks of outgrowth before your initial waxing to have maximum hair removal. More times than not, the hair on your bikini, underarms, brows, and upper lip will have a quicker response rate to waxing. Your legs, however, will likely not be as smooth after your first visit. You’ll not be able to see the hair but you will feel it. Do not be discouraged, with each wax your hair will get softer and softer.
Please note that hair grows in 3 stages, so you’ll need 3 waxing services, 4 weeks apart to have your wax stay beautifully smooth all the time.

WHY WAX?

Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes the entire hair from the hair follicle. Unlike shaving, Nair or clippers, which blunty cut the hair at the surface. Warm wax is applied to the skin and “shrink wraps” around the hair follicle allowing the hair to be pulled from the root. Because the entire hair is removed, skin is left very smooth and outlasts any other form of hair removal, you wont believe it till you try it.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO MY WAXING APPOINTMENT?

We suggest wearing loose clothing. The skin is usually sensitive post waxing service and you won’t want to wear anything that rubs. You will not leave in discomfort perse, but expect the waxed area to be sensitive.

WILL I BE COMPLETELY SMOOTH MY FIRST WAX OR NOT?

It’s like working out at the gym. You don’t automatically lose 10lbs on your first visit, right? It’s the same thing with waxing. You will not get the best wax until your 3rd wax. This is due to the 3 stages of hair growth. So, 3 growth stages + 3 waxes = the best wax. By “best wax” we mean: No hair left behind, ultimate smoothness, slow hair regrowth and little skin irritation.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME IN?

Come in for a wax every 4 weeks. We do experience different growth rates but on average, the 4-week mark is the best time. This timing is based on the 3 stages of hair growth.
Please note: The moment you shave or use Nair, you become a virgin wax again. Your third-time’s-a-charm waxing cycle restarts and you must wait until your third wax for the perfect waxing experience. Patience is key!

I’M PREGNANT! CAN I GET WAXED?

YUP

I AM ON MEDICATION, WILL THIS AFFECT MY WAX?

Prior to your initial service, you will complete an intake consult form. Please advise your esthetician of any medical or skin conditions and also if you are taking any medications prescribed by a doctor such as Retin-A or Accutane. Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Accutane are advised not to use waxing on the face as these medications tend to weaken the skin. Because of this, tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed.

CAN I GET A WAX WHILE I’M MENSTRUATING?

Yes! Please do not cancel your appointment if you have your menstrual cycle. Just insert a tampon and you’re good to go. Take note, there are differing opinions as to whether or not waxing hurts more on your cycle. Some do believe the pain is worse while others experience no changes in discomfort at all.
